{"id":1939,"date":"2014-11-08T14:17:16","date_gmt":"2014-11-08T14:17:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/?p=1939"},"modified":"2014-11-08T14:18:07","modified_gmt":"2014-11-08T14:18:07","slug":"october-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/october-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"October 2014 Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b style=\"color: #000000; letter-spacing: 0.05em; line-height: 1.6875;\">18<sup>th<\/sup> September Tasting \u2013 Restaurante La Senia \u2013 Denia<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is eight months since we were last at this restaurant and as on that occasion the format of this evening was slightly different from the usual bodega presentation.\u00a0\u00a0 This time 58 members and guests gathered to hear three past Presidents present \u201cPast President\u2019s Pairs\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 Current president Gordon Sellars introduced the three past Presidents; Keith Pacey, Rod Anderton and Gaby Ferenczy and explained that each had chosen a pair of wines which had one or more features in common which allowed for a comparative tasting. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first speaker was Keith Pacey and he had chosen two white wines from Alavesa a prestigious wine producing region of the DO La Rioja Calificada.\u00a0\u00a0 For his wines, Rod Anderton chose two reds from Calatayud, situated in the province of Zaragoza.\u00a0 Finally Gaby Ferenczy presented two red wines from Utiel Requena, both 2012 and both made from the Bobal grape.\u00a0 A full report on the evening\u2019s tasting is on the society\u2019s web page, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a title=\"18th September 2014 \u2013 Restaurante La Senia \u2013 Denia\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/18th-september-2014-restaurante-la-senia-denia\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">www.costablancawinesociety.com<\/span><\/a> <\/span>under the heading of Tastings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Autumn Wine Trip<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Autumn wine trip to DO Bullas takes place on the 21\/22<sup>nd<\/sup> October.\u00a0\u00a0 The trip is fully booked with 32 members attending.\u00a0\u00a0 However a waiting list is open in case any should have to withdraw.\u00a0\u00a0 Full details of the trip are on the Society\u2019s web page under <a title=\"Next Trip\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/1500-2\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Trips\/Next Trip.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Next Tasting<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The next tasting will take place on the 16<sup>th<\/sup> October at Restaurant Abiss in Calpe, when we will be tasting wines by Bodegas Mas Roig from DO Montsant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">Menu<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Entrante: (center table<\/span>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Berenjena Asada con Tomate<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Salaz\u00f3n<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mejillones al Vapor con Apio<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">Plato Principal:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Solomillo de Cerdo con Patata Revolcona, Champi\u00f1ones Salteados y Salsa de Oporto<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00f3<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pescado Blanco de la Bah\u00eda con sus Verduritas<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">Postre:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Coca de Llanda con Helado y Salsa de Chocolate<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The restaurant is part of the Sol y Mar hotel, although it has a separate entrance.
