style=\"color: #000000;\">The Marriott in Denia was the venue for the March tasting.\u00a0\u00a0 80 members and guests gathered to taste wines presented by Vinos Aut\u00f3ctones de Espa\u00f1a, based in Valencia.\u00a0 The managing Director of the company, Guillermo Ferrer explained its philosophy as selling, distributing and exporting wine from bodegas with a small production, high quality and sensitivity to the environment.\u00a0 He had brought along five wines for tasting which fitted this company philosophy.\u00a0\u00a0 We ran this tasting as a tutorial on wine tasting, the aim being to give our new members some tips on wine tasting and scoring<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">and for the old hands to provide a refresher. \u00a0\u00a0A full report on the tasting can be found balance of the cost, 290\u20ac by no later than 6<sup>th<\/sup> April.\u00a0\u00a0 A coach will take all participants to Alicante airport, leaving J\u00e1vea (Rafalet car park) at 09.30 and Calpe (Bedding Centre \u2013 Biblos) at 10.00.\u00a0\u00a0 A full itinerary will be sent to all participants by the end of April.\u00a0\u00a0 Given that we are flying and would wish to keep baggage weight down, jackets and ties for men are not required, but dress in the evenings is smart casual. \u00a0 Please remember to bring some form of identification, with photo, otherwise you may not be allowed on the aircraft. \u00a0 The hotel will also require it for checking in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Dress Code<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Members are reminded that the dress code for tastings in the winter is jacket preferably with a tie and in summer, smart casual and no shorts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Spain outstrips France and Italy in wine exports<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Spain is a relative newcomer on the international circuit, compared to the French and Italians, yet it has beaten records to become the biggest wine exporter in the world. According to data published on February 23rd by Spanish wine market observatory (Observatorio Espa\u00f1ol de los Mercados del Vino \u2013 OEM) Spanish wine exports reached 22.8 million hectolitres in 2014, a 22.3 percent rise on 2013. But while the volume of sales has increased, profits have<\/span> f<span style=\"color: #000000;\">allen 2.2 percent since 2013\u2026But if Spain is the biggest exporter of wine in the world, why have profits fallen? The answer may lie in the fact that the majority of wine exported from Spain, 55 percent, is sold in bulk, i.e. not bottled.
