Matthew was supported by the full team of Casa del Vino who were delighted to attend this important event in J\u00e1vea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first wine was <strong>Edet\u00e0ria Blanca 2011<\/strong> from Bodega Edet\u00e0ria located in the DO of Terra Alta<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3352\" style=\"width: 419px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3352\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-3352\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Mathew and Jos\u00e9\" width=\"409\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124-24x18.jpg 24w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124-36x27.jpg 36w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124-48x36.jpg 48w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124-400x300.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6124.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3352\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mathew and Jos\u00e9<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> which is in Catalu\u00f1a 80kms west of Tarragona.\u00a0\u00a0 The wine is almost 100% Garnacha Blanca, with just a touch of Macabeo from old vines, with low yields.\u00a0 The fermentation tanks are small and are designed and equipped to keep the different \u201cterroirs\u201d and grape varieties separate during the wine-making process to fully express the qualities of all the individual plots.\u00a0\u00a0 After<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">fermentation the wine is aged for 8 months in new 300 litre French oak barrels.\u00a0\u00a0 A pretty straw yellow colour it is clean and bright and on opening an aroma of white and yellow fruit prevails along with floral notes.\u00a0\u00a0 Once aired, smoky notes and hints of dried fruit appear and in the mouth it is smooth, with good acidity and a long and persistent finish.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It has an Alcohol by Volume of 14%, costs 23.9\u20ac, gets 95 points in the Gu\u00eda Pe\u00f1\u00edn and members scored it as 85.9 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Albanto Rosado 2014<\/strong> was Jos\u00e9\u2019s next choice.\u00a0\u00a0 This wine comes from the Tierra de Leon and uses \u2018madreo\u2019 as a processing technique, which means the manner in which the wine used to be made, but applying modern techniques.\u00a0\u00a0 The old vinification method (100 t0 150 years old) consists of adding grapes during the fermentation process.\u00a0\u00a0 This technique produces fine bubbles and a greater persistence in the mouth. \u00a0The grape is Prieto Picudo a variety of\u00a0red <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Uva\">grape<\/a>\u00a0which produces a\u00a0unique wine, as this is the only grape variety in the world that only occurs in the province of Le\u00f3n, north of Zamora and a small area northeast of Valladolid.\u00a0 The wine is pink with bright flashes and sparkling in the glass, an aroma of\u00a0intense red fruit (strawberry and pomegranate) and violets.\u00a0\u00a0 It is tasty, fresh, silky and airy, with perfect balance and the sparkle of natural carbon. It has a limited production of 15,000 bottles an ABV of 14%, costs 9.35\u20ac was given 83.9 points by members and is not rated in the Gu\u00eda Pe\u00f1\u00edn.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3356\" style=\"width: 349px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3356\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-3356\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Diners listening to the presentation\" width=\"339\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135-24x18.jpg 24w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135-36x27.jpg 36w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135-48x36.jpg 48w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135-400x300.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6135.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 339px) 100vw, 339px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3356\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Diners listening to the presentation<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first red presented by Jos\u00e9 was<strong> LZ 2013 Tinto <\/strong>from the bodega Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Vinos Telmo Rodr\u00edguez located in the DOCa Rioja (DO Calificada, which means regions whose quality standards are a bit higher than other DO), \u00a0\u00a0LZ comes from the area Rioja Alavesa which is the smallest of the three wine-producing sub-regions in Rioja.\u00a0 LZ is a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha grown on bush vines 70 years old..\u00a0\u00a0 The grapes\u00a0are all handpicked, fermented in cement tanks and matured for 4 to 6 months.\u00a0\u00a0 Production is about 84,000 bottles.\u00a0 The wine is a deep cherry in colour with purple hues.\u00a0It has a clean nose of medium intensity, with notes of red fruit with mild lactic notes that give way to more spicy flavour.\u00a0\u00a0 Crisp and fresh in the mouth with good acidity it is well balanced with a pleasant tannic sensation and has a long aftertaste of red fruits.\u00a0\u00a0 The Gu\u00eda Pe\u00f1\u00edn rates it exceptional value for money at 8.75\u20ac and gives it 93 points and members 83.7.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Abadia San Quirce 2013 Tinto <\/strong>was the second red, a Ribera del Duero wine which is a 100% Tempranillo and comes from Bodegas Imperiales which is located in Aranda in the province of Burgos.\u00a0\u00a0 Bodegas Imperiales has a total of 21 hectares of vineyards of Tinta Fina (Tempranillo). Vineyard ages are between\u00a0<strong>15 and more than 100 years<\/strong>, from pre-phylloxera vines planted in 1900. In total Domaines Lupier consists of twenty-seven parcels together with an old 19th century manor house with a small cellar with capacity for 50,000 bottles, which accommodates small vats of 3,500 and 5,500 litres, and is equipped with updated technology.\u00a0. The wine is a 100% black Grenache from old vines (mostly 60 \u2013 70 years old) located in 12 different plots in diverse zones in the area of San Martin de Unx in the north of the DO and which is at an altitude of 400 to 600 metres.\u00a0\u00a0 Everything is hand picked and the wine was aged for 14 months in mixture of French oak barrels.\u00a0\u00a0 The wine has an intense cherry colour and an aroma with the character of ripe fruits, mountain herbs as well as balsamic notes with just hints of spices and smoke.\u00a0\u00a0 The palate is medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a silky texture that makes it very pleasant and easy to drink.\u00a0\u00a0 It has an ABV of 14.5%, costs 21.85\u20ac, scores 93 points in the Gu\u00eda Pe\u00f1\u00edn and received 89.7 points from members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A vote of thanks to Jos\u00e9 was proposed by the President Tim Fawle, noting how his choice if wines had reflected his theme of looking for originality.\u00a0\u00a0 He also thanked Matthew for his excellent translation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/IMG_6128.jpg\"><img
