{"id":5205,"date":"2017-04-28T20:12:16","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T20:12:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/?p=5205"},"modified":"2017-04-28T20:12:16","modified_gmt":"2017-04-28T20:12:16","slug":"april-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/april-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"April 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>March Tasting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The March tasting was held at the Restaurant Abiss in Calpe.\u00a0 The evening started with a champagne reception at the associated \u2018Champagne Bar\u2019, which has a really great setting overlooking Calpe Bay and the Pe\u00f1\u00f3n de Ifach.\u00a0\u00a0 Vice-President Paul Nicholls hosted the night standing in for President John Sloggie.\u00a0 He welcomed the 54 members and then introduced the evening\u2019s wine selectors, Keith Pacey, Renate Pluis and Ted Floodgate, who were respectively the winner and runners up of the Society\u2019s 2016 Wine Taster of the Year.\u00a0\u00a0 Five wines were presented, a Rosado, two whites and two reds.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A full report on the tasting can be found on the Society\u2019s Web site under recent tastings or by clicking on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/16th-march-2017-restaurant-abiss-calpe\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cMarch Tasting\u201d<\/span>. <\/a>The cost of each wine, where it can be purchased and average score given by members is shown in the list of wines tasted in 2017, which can be found by\u00a0clicking on\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wines-tasted-in-2016-1\/\">\u201cWines tasted in 2017\u201d.<\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Fining Wine<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Prompted by the presentations, Hugh Epsom has come across an article on fining wines which he thought would be of interest to members.\u00a0\u00a0 It can be read by clicking on <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/winemakermag.com\/26-a-clearer-understanding-of-fining-agents\">https:\/\/winemakermag.com\/26-a-clearer-understanding-of-fining-agents<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>April Tasting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The April tasting will take place on the 20<sup>th<\/sup> at Ca La Iaia in Moraria.\u00a0\u00a0 The presentation will be by a bodega, yet to be notified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please remember that the booking deadline is now the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">FRIDAY\u00a0<\/span>before the tasting.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Reservations and choice of main course please to: Penny Floodgate Tel: 965794996 or email\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"mailto:pennyfloodgate@gmail.com\">pennyfloodgate@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0Reservations must be received no later than the deadline 12.00 noon on\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Friday 14<sup>th\u00a0 <\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>April.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When you book Penny will\u00a0<strong>ALWAYS<\/strong>\u00a0confirm back to you.
