{"id":5878,"date":"2018-03-28T19:35:47","date_gmt":"2018-03-28T19:35:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/?p=5878"},"modified":"2018-03-28T19:35:47","modified_gmt":"2018-03-28T19:35:47","slug":"march-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/march-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"March 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dear members,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I trust this newsletter finds you all in good health and looking forward to our next tasting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>February Tasting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">61 members and guests assembled at the Swiss Hotel in Moraira, a new venue for the society.\u00a0\u00a0 I introduced the presenter, David Lopez from Bodega Aljibes who is their National Sales Manager.\u00a0 \u00a0As he spoke only Spanish, Tim Fawle undertook the translation.\u00a0 \u00a0David informed us that very generously we were going to taste six of their wines: one White one Rosado and four Reds. The society had visited the bodega on their Autumn trip in 2017, but\u00a0while those on the trip had tasted several of the wines, they were of different years to the ones we tasted during the evening.\u00a0\u00a0 A more detailed report on the tasting can be found on the web site under Tastings \u2013 Recent Tastings or by clicking on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/15th-february-swiss-hotel-moraira\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">February Tasting<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The cost of each wine, where it can be purchased and average score given by members is shown in the list of wines tasted in 2018, which can be found by\u00a0clicking on\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cbws.eu\/archive\/wines-tasted-in-2018-2\/\">Wines Tasted in 2018<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Tasting at La Parilla del Celler<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Francis and Pepe will be having a wine tasting at La Parilla del Celler, located in old town J\u00e1vea, on Thursday 8th March.\u00a0 They will be offering wines from Bodegas Montalvo Wilmot which is from Ciudad Real and has a boutique production of approx 400,000 bottles per annum.\u00a0 The wine is produced from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Verdejo.\u00a0 The grapes are not pressed as they use only gravity techniques to make their famous &#8220;free run wines&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 The tastings will be 13.00 to 15.00 with tapas 25 Euros and 20.00 to 22.00 with tapas at 30 Euros.\u00a0 As you know, they have limited space so please book early.\u00a0\u00a0 Francis and Pepe both look forward to seeing you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>March Tasting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The March tasting will be held at the Restaurant Abiss in Calpe on 15<sup>th<\/sup> March. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>This is a members only tasting.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span> As this is a very popular venue, members are asked to book promptly.\u00a0\u00a0 Numbers are limited to 60 and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.\u00a0\u00a0 The tasting will be the Wines of Aragon conducted by Keith Pacey.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The hotel Sol y Mar is offering a 20% discount on the rooms for an overnight stay.\u00a0\u00a0 Booking on line, the code is CBWSMARCH all upper case, no spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Please remember that the booking deadline is now the\u00a0<strong>FRIDAY<\/strong>\u00a0before the tasting.\u00a0 If you have to cancel after the deadline you will still have to pay!
