                      4. Introduce more fun nights similar to \u201cWhose Wine is it Anyway?\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
                      5. Subsidise expenses, or pay costs, more often to encourage better presenters to<\/span>come and talk to us about good wines.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                        Appendix 1: Email from Hugh Epsom and Gillian Ashworth referred to in item 12<\/strong><\/p>\n

                        CBWS AGM Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n

                        Point:<\/strong> It is felt that several of the restaurants used over the last few years have not been<\/p>\n

                        really up to standard. Either the service has been poor, or the food has not been as good as<\/p>\n

                        normal, or the seating arrangement has prevented clear line of sight for all to the presenter.<\/p>\n

                        The choice of restaurants in the past has always been limited due to the need to<\/p>\n

                        accommodate up to 80 people.<\/p>\n

                        1. Find smaller restaurants and limit attendance to 50.<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Rationale:<\/strong> Assume only half of the current membership will attend the tastings on average.<\/p>\n

                        Much easier to find suitable venues for 40-50 people!<\/p>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Point:<\/strong> The cost of tasting has increased to the point that many members may be reluctant<\/p>\n

                        to attend on a regular basis. It is felt that we do not need to be a gourmet club, and that we<\/p>\n

                        could budget for cheaper meals in future.<\/p>\n

                        2. Try some tapas nights in place of the normal three course, omit dessert, wines at a<\/span><\/p>\n

                        cheaper cost.<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Rationale:<\/strong> Increases likelihood that members will attend more tastings.<\/p>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Point:<\/strong> The format of the CBWS tastings has perhaps become a bit stale \u2013 it is felt that some<\/p>\n

                        changes could be introduced to make the events more interesting.<\/p>\n

                        3. Replace the current annual wine tasting competition with one that actually<\/span><\/p>\n

                        rewards our members for judging the wines correctly (say closest score to the<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Penin, or Parker? This could be a monthly competition with a simple bottle of wine<\/span><\/p>\n

                        prize), or drop the competition completely?<\/span><\/p>\n

                        4. Introduce more fun nights similar to \u201cWhose Wine is it Anyway?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

                        5. Subsidise expenses, or pay costs, more often to encourage better presenters to<\/span><\/p>\n

                        come and talk to us about good wines.<\/span><\/p>\n

                        Rationale:<\/strong> Something new and fresh would be welcomed!<\/p>\n

                         <\/p>\n

                        Please take these as constructive suggestions. The Committee does a great job, but we and<\/p>\n

                        others feel there could be room for some changes.<\/p>\n
