Dear Members,<\/p>\n

I hope you are well and keeping safe within the restrictions we are all facing, wherever you are!<\/p>\n

February has been an interesting month on the wine front. Firstly, we are reconnecting with some of our favourite Bodegas that we have visited during our Wine Trips. Those of you who are frequent participants know that the bodegas we have visited over the years produce some outstanding wines.<\/p>\n

We already connected to Vinyes del Terrer in Tarragona who presented some of their wines on our October Zoom tasting following which they offered some excellent prices to purchase.<\/p>\n

In February we contacted El Regajal in DO Vinos de Madrid. www.elregajal.es<\/a> \u00a0who are based in Aranjuez. This wine is normally distributed in the capital Madrid and it was a gem that we discovered on the Wine Trip to Aranjuez in 2008 and again we visited this bodega en route to Rueda in 2018. Over the years we have purchased the El Regajal Seleccion Especial which normally sells from 12 to15\u20ac a bottle but on this occasion it was on offer at \u20ac8.80 per bottle sourced by Paul Smithard our esteemed Secretary.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The February Zoom tasting was hosted by Andrew and Kathy Johnson and attended by 32 members in 17 locations with a theme \u201cFun with 3 Grapes\u201d. Our enthusiastic attendees submitted a stunning total of 30 different wines.<\/p>\n

On March 18 we will be hosting on Zoom, Bodegas Mart\u00fae, Toledo https:\/\/martue.com\/en\/martue\/<\/a>\u00a0 with Manuel Gonzalez ,a member of this family owned Bodega. We visited this bodega in 2016 again tasting their impressive wines. John Sloggie of our Wine Trip team has reconnected with Manuel and we are looking forward to an interesting tasting when we can also buy their wines at a very good price. \u00a0More details to follow shortly. \u00a0I will be mailing details to all regular participants and if anyone else wants to join us please email me timfawle@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Hilary Blackwell, a long standing member who is currently at her home in Clonakilty, Cork, Southern Ireland, sent a \"\"<\/a>photo of this 50 year old wine<\/strong> with the following comment:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are having one band of gales and rain after another. A young friend came to dinner and I thought that I would open a bottle to cheer us up. I have a number of old bottles in my small cellar and they are not going to improve. This one still had a remarkably good clear colour and was very pleasing to the tongue\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
