Wine Tasting Report April 15 2021<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

34 members enjoyed an interesting online tasting presented by 2 Past Presidents, our Treasurer and two long-standing members of CBWS.<\/p>\n

The wines selected by each presenter were chosen for their availability both in Spain, the UK and Ireland. A total of 8 wines were selected by the presenters and members were invited to taste two or three of these wines.<\/p>\n

Each presenter discussed their chosen wine with their group to compare its characteristics. We also rated the wines by using the wine scoring sheet completed at our normal tastings as we now have several new members and this helped them to assess their wines in a structured manner.<\/p>\n

Finca la Colina verdejo, Bodega Vinos Sanz, DO Rueda;<\/p>\n

Leiras Albari\u00f1o, DO Rias Baixas;<\/p>\n

Cune DO Rioja<\/p>\n

Reds<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sangre de Toro, Bodega Miguel Torres, DO Catalunya;<\/p>\n

Casta\u00f1o Monastrell, DO Yecla;<\/p>\n

Baltasar Garnacha, Bodegas San Alejandro, DO Calatayud;<\/p>\n

Cune Crianza, DO Rioja<\/p>\n

All wines had an average score between 85 and 90 points from those taking part. Where some people could not source the exact wine in their area they too enthusiastically purchased the same grape variety, enabling them to join in.<\/p>\n

There is no doubt that as we develop online tastings and the various formats, it is important that everyone gets an opportunity to participate whilst at the same time listening to the opinions of fellow tasters on the qualities of the wines. The evening always concludes with a good ambience.<\/p>\n

I was delighted to welcome new member Jackie Brown from Javea and also Joan and Fergus Fitzpatrick from Cork, Southern Ireland for their first Zoom tasting. They thoroughly enjoyed the evening and are looking forward to next month\u2019s tasting.<\/p>\n

Thanks to our Presenters Gordon Sellars, Hugh & Gillian Epsom, Mike Granville and Paul Nicholls for their informative and interesting presentations.<\/p>\n

It really is a pleasure to enjoy the company of other members even on a virtual basis and my thanks to everyone for their enthusiastic participation.<\/p>\n
