Not only was this the highest attendance of our online tastings but the enthusiastic members stocked up on their summer wines with a collective order of 117cases. We also welcomed new members James Grigor and David Miller who attended their first tasting.

This was a very professional presentation from Manuel who started the evening with a video on Finca Los Aljibes followed by a tasting of 4 of their wines. The tasting pack included a delicious embutido of venison, which he suggested we consume during the tasting together with some cheeses. Also half way through the tasting, and included in the tasting pack, was a half-litre bottle of the Los Aljibes Olive Oil, and we were asked to pour a small quantity into a wine glass while he explained the characteristics of this olive oil. The general opinion was that it was delicious.

Click here to see tasting report on the webpage.

June Events

AGM – Via Zoom – Tuesday June 15th, 2021 at 18.00 CET

As we are still unable to meet as a group this month it is important that we formally present the CBWS financial position for 2020. Earlier in the year everyone was provided with a financial summary from our Treasurer, Mike Granville. Those in the tasting team will be responsible for a CBWS evening, including liaising with the Bodega and venues and menus team, sourcing the wine, pairing it with the menu etc. They will not be expected to make a presentation themselves, although they can if they would like to. The Tasting Team would actively participate in developing the programme for the year, in close collaboration with the President.

The simple principal of this proposal is to spread the workload amongst a number of people whilst at the same time developing a varied, interesting and enjoyable programme.

We have a very enthusiastic membership and working as part of the Tasting Team will be an enjoyable experience with fellow members.

This is a step-change in the way we operate and we do believe that this is a good, positive move to enrich our programme and ensure wider participation from our members. We are looking for the endorsement and support of the membership.

Wine Tasting – June 17th, Via ZOOM

Eco, biodynamic, natural, organic, sustainable- do these titles mean anything?
