August Newsletter

Dear Members,

I hope you are enjoying the summer wherever you are and tasting some excellent wines.

We are now gearing up for our September tasting on Sept 17 at The Parador, Javea in which José Peñin, of the prestigious Guia Peñin, will be giving us a chat and wine tasting selected by him.

I am delighted that he has accepted our invitation to come and meet us. This wine guide is the primary publication used by the wine trade in Spain and this year is celebrating their 25th anniversary.

In 1990 there were 3,000 Spanish wines listed in the Guia, this number has increased to 10,800 in 2015.  It is produced also in English and German and is sold throughout the world. In fact Peñin is very active internationally and organises wine events in Miami, Mexico, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Moscow and New York.

Over the years we have all seen, through our tastings and wine trips, the impressive improvement by the industry which now produces excellent wines bringing Spain to the forefront of wine production and quality.

Matthew Kane from Casa del Vino will be assisting me in hosting this event with José  Peñin and I think we can all look forward to a very interesting tasting.

I mentioned in our previous Newsletter that we are very happy to extend this event to include any of your friends who are interested in wines and you are welcome to invite them as your guests. The Parador location can facilitate increased attendance.
