I welcomed 82 members and guests to the Punta Negra restaurant at Les Rotes Hotel in Denia, for a special event. Our guest speaker from England, Ed Adams, who is a Master of Wine, gave a very interesting presentation of La Báscula wines, an innovative approach to collaborating with producers and marketing Spanish wines. His business partner is a South African winemaker Bruce Jack with whom he visits these producers and together develop their wines. They have a company specialising in Spanish wines in the UK. Their business is called La Báscula, a Spanish word with two meanings but they chose old fashioned weighing scales, so they could create a good wine label. Ed also provided us with an insight into his work with Lidl Europe together with 2 other Masters of Wine who advise and assess the wine range stocked by Lidl. June Tasting Next month, we will be holding the wine tasting on June 20th at Puerto Blanco in Calpe, a very popular venue with members and guests. This is a members special as the presentation will be made by three of our ladies delivering their favourite Cavas. We have, in the past, presented Cava wines at Puerto Blanco as the venue and the month of June are when we begin to enjoy the summer and all it has to offer us which includes delicious Spanish Cava! We will be offering red and white wines as an alternative for those who would prefer, but the Cavas chosen will have something special about them, they will be excellent quality, available locally and have a story behind them which our own presenters will tell you all about! So please dress up, enjoy the location and cava wines and bring some guests to make this a lovely and interesting evening!
