Welcome to our June Newsletter

May Tasting

66 members and guests attended the ever popular venue of Restaurant Puente Negre in Denia.. Colin and Sue, the Menus and Venues team had prepared another great night, working with the hotel’s team. As always, Constantinos, the restaurant manager, and his staff looked after us well.   As I was away, Vice President Paul Nicholls deputized for me as host for the night.   All the wines we tasted were from our friends at Bodegas Barahonda (www.barahonda.com). The wines were well presented (in English) by Sandra Puche Carpena who is from the tourism department of the company.   A full report on the evening’s tasting can be found by clicking on “Wine Tasting at Punta Negre”.

Bodegas Bleda

Bodegas Bleda will be at parking at the Solpark Tennis Club on June the 2nd at 12.00.   The Bodega is one that is popular with members and has been visited by us.   As is usual, they are offering their traditional wines of the Castillo de Jumilla variety and their modern line, Pino Doncel. They recommend their Castillo de Jumilla Blanco 2015, Castillo de Jumilla Rosado 2015 and Pino Doncel Sauvignon Blanc 2015; all of them are very refreshing for summer time.  Of course they have all their red wines which are very fruity wines, and some with a touch of wood.
