April Tasting
65 members and guests gathered in the Punta Negra Restaurant at the MR Hotel in Denia to taste wines presented by the owner of Bodegas Arráez, Toni Arráez based in Font de la Figuera, in the province of Valencia. Matthew Kane from Casa del Vino Jávea kindly organised this tasting but could not attend due to commitments at a US wine fair in Miami. Toni Arráez explained that his bodega is celebrating 65 years on May 1st and he is the third generation now managing the bodega. Their philosophy is to develop excellent wines positioned to increase wine consumption and linking top quality innovative wines at attractive prices. He presented five wines, two white and three reds. A full report can be found on the Society’s web site costablancawinesociety.com under “Recent Tastings”. Anyone wishing to purchase these wines can obtain them from Casa del Vino in their new shop premises at Avenida La Fontana 12, Jávea, where members will enjoy a 5% discount. They are exceptional value for money!
Wine Trip
The Wine Trip for Galicia leaves on Monday 4th May. A coach will take those participants who wish to use it to Alicante airport, leaving Jávea (Rafalet car park) at 09.30 and Calpe (Bedding Centre – Biblos) at 10.00. Please be on time, we cannot afford to wait for anyone. Given that we are flying and would wish to keep baggage weight down, jackets and ties for men are not required, but dress in the evenings is smart casual. Please remember to bring some form of identification, with photo, otherwise you may not be allowed on the aircraft. The hotel will also require it for checking in.
May Tasting
The May tasting will take place at Restaurant Ca La Iaia, Moraira on 21st May and will be a presentation by Bodega Borsao, DO Campo de Borja. This bodega has some excellent wines all rated highly by Peniñ so I am sure our taste buds will receive a treat!

The cost is 30€ for members and 35€ for guests
We look forward to seeing you on the night but would recommend that reservations are made in good time, since the capacity has been reduced, to 64 members and guests, in response to requests from various members. In fact our last tasting here worked very well with the new table layout.
Dress Code
Members are reminded that the dress code for tastings in the winter is jacket preferably with a tie and in summer, smart casual and no shorts.

Reservations no later than the deadline 12.00 noon on Monday 18th May, cancellations and no shows after the deadline are liable for payment. Sandy will always confirm your booking. If you do not receive confirmation from Sandy then you are not booked in.

THE DOORS WILL OPEN AT 19.30. This will allow the committee to arrange seating and tables.
Unfortunately I will not be attending this month due to a commitment in the UK so our Vice President John Sloggie will be hosting this interesting tasting.
