During our May Wine Trip to DO Montsant we visited Acustic Celler which was built in 2021. The owner Albert Jané is following in the family tradition of winemakers from El Vendrell (Baix Penedès) region, he owes his deep passion for wine to his parents Benjamí Jané and Maria Úbeda, who have passed down their love and respect for the land and the wine. Albert lives in a farmhouse in a beautiful, isolated estate, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, almond trees and the arid and rocky mountains full of history and tradition. This connection with the landscape has allowed him to develop the philosophy of acoustic wines, authentic imperfect wines that convey the character and the value of each area, their difference and their personality.
We were impressed with his passion and enthusiasm and more importantly the age of the vines that produced these high quality wines.

WINE 1 Acustic Blanc 2021 €12
ACÚSTIC ORIGIN. The philosophy of this wine is based on the wisdom of the ancient vineyards of White Garnatxa, Pink Garnatxa, Macabeu and Pansal and the old tradition of winemaking from the ancient vine growers. It is an acoustic wine, sensitive from the roots of these ancient vineyards. A wine that wants to express and claim the quality and singularity of the traditional viticulture against the globalization of the international varieties and modern winemaking style. Come back to the traditional roots of the vineyards using the nowadays knowledge to express the environment of these wild vineyards among the majestic Montsant mountains. It is possible to make fine and elegant wines using the traditional varieties and expressing a unique singularity. VINEYARDS. Wine made from old vineyards in D.O. Montsant. between 300 to 700 meters of altitude, vineyards between 40 to 80 year old. Our vineyards grow in poor and stony soils with a combination of clay, sand and some “llicorella“ soil. Acústic white is made 93% of White Garnatxa, 5% Macabeu, 1% Pink Garnatxa and 1 % Pansa
AUDITORI BLANC ORIGIN. 2021 €20
Landscape wine and really special sensations fruit of some very old magical vineyards of 3 vineyards of 3 different varieties: white Grenache, Macabeo and Pansal. Enjoying this wine, one has the feeling of spiritual peace and emotional balance experimenting in an auditorium, listening to acoustic music.
VINEYARDS. Wine made from old vineyards. The three oldest vines: Garnatxa blanca (76%) from Finca Valsellada (year 1940), Pansal (19%) from Finca La Serra (1936) and Macabeu (5%) from Finca Tros de Marmellans (1952).
WINEMAKING. Respecting the grapes very much, we seek the varietal expressiveness of these native grapes by making a maceration at 8-10oC for 2 days. Fermented in cement egg, French oak “fudre” of 1500 liters and barrels of 400 liters. And aged with his lees for 10 months.
TASTING NOTES.
Very intense color due to maceration, aging and the work of the lees. Citrus fruity aromas, species of low Mediterranean forest (fennel, thyme …) and creamy aromas (from the aging of wine with lees). In the mouth fatty, deep, powerful, intense, fresh with good citrus fruit, spicy and creamy touch. Later long and intense taste. Wine that transports us to Montsant with the depth of the old vines that suffer from theextreme weather and the poor and hard terrain.

Acustic Tinto 2019 €12
ACÚSTIC ORIGIN. The philosophy of this wine is based on the wisdom of the ancient vineyards of Garnatxa and Carinyena and the old tradition of winemaking from the ancient vine growers. It is an acoustic wine, sensitive from the roots of these ancient vineyards. A wine who want to express and claim the quality and singularity of the traditional viticulture against the globalization of the international varieties and modern winemaking style. Come back to the traditional roots of the vineyards using the nowadays knowledge to express the environment of these wild vineyards among the majestic Montsant mountains. It is possible to make fine and smart wines using the traditional varieties and expressing a unique singularity.
VINEYARDS. Wine made from old vineyards of Garnatxa and Carinyena in the D.O. Montsant. Vineyards located in the villages of Marçà, Capçanes, El Masroig, Els Guiamets, La Serra d’Almos, Darmòs, Siurana and Cornudella de Montsant between 300 to 700 meters of altitude. Vineyards between 35 to 65 year old from harsh and stony soils of sand, clay, rolling slay stones and some “licorella“ soil. The wine is made with two kind of grape: 30% Garnatxa that gives fruitiness, freshness, finesse and 70% Carinyena that gives color, structure and black fruitiness.
WINEMAKING. Harvesting the grape when it is fully ripe and have achieved the complete tannin ripeness. Selection by hand in the vineyard and during unload by small cases to the destemming machine in the cellar. Then 15 days of maceration with the skin with several “pigeage“ every day.
In October after pressing the wine is racked with its lees to the barrels that are in the old underground tanks to start the malolactic fermentation. It is aged during 10-11 months in 1 and 2 year old low toasted French oak barrels. No fining neither filtering to keep the expressivity of the wine.
IDENTITY. Natural label where there is a drawing which can be an acoustic instrument like a cello of the great music from my village Pau Casals or it can be a grape berry with the lines of a red wine… depending on the acoustic feeling of oneself.
TASTING NOTES. Vineyard, pure unplugged juice wine. It has an elegant blackberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow scented bouquet with judicious oak playing a backseat role. The palate is rounded and supple on the entry, with very pure, sweet, precocious black fruit balanced by good acidity.

Acustic Brao 2018 €24
BRAÓ ORIGIN. The philosophy to create this wine is based on the beautiful wisdom of the ancient vineyards of native varieties and also the tradition of the ancient winegrowers. This wine is the result of a romantic selection of old vineyards of 60- 80 year old that produce really low yield. This scarce fruit is full of expressivity and singularity. This wine is a tribute to these ancient vineyards. It is
thanks to their work and suffering that is possible the creation of superb wines like Braó. Braó was a word very used in the past in the countryside areas and means “valour, courage, strength”. This is what I feel from these vineyards when I see them after 70 or 80 years they are still there, fighting against everything to offer their scare but unique fruit.
VINEYARD. Wine made from 60-80 year old vineyards of Garnatxa and Carinyena from 3 different states of Marçà, Capçanes, Serra d’Almos, el Masroig, Cornudella de Montsant and Siurana located close to the beautiful Montsant mountain. The altitude of the vineyards is from 300 to 700 meters. There is harsh and barren stony sandy with clay soils and also with rolling stones. The wine is the result of 10% Garnatxa that gives fragance, fruitiness and complexity to the wine and 90% Carinyena that gives colour, body and some ripe red fruit flavours.
WINE MAKING. Harvesting the grape when it is fully ripe and have achieved the complete tannin ripeness. Harvest by hand picking the grape up in 20 kg. cases. Selection by hand in the vineyard andduring unloading to the destemming machine in the cellar. Then 15 days of maceration with the skin with several “pigeage “every day. Pressing using a small vertical wooden pressing machine. After pressing the wine is racked with its lees to the barrels which are in the underground old tanks to start the malolactic fermentation. Aged during 12 months in new and 1 year old low toasted French oak barrels. No fining neither filtering to keep the natural expressivity of the wine.
IDENTITY. Natural label where there is a drawing which can be the shape of the old vines or the cristalls of the minerality of the wine… depending on the acoustic feeling of oneself.
TASTING NOTES. Complexity and elegance. It has a generous bouquet of mineral, chalky aromas and hints of balsamic notes. The palate is rich, deep, with succulent red currant and wild strawberry fruit. The tannins are rounded and sensual with a confit-like finish that is irresistible. Superb long after taste.

Plaer 2018 €24
D.O.Q Priorat
Plaer means pleasure. We seek to express all the pleasure and identity of the unique
Priorat area. This wine comes from a selection of beautiful, exceptional old vineyards from 40 to 60 years old. Vineyards are from different parts of the Priorat area: Bellmunt, Falset, Torroja delPriorat, El Molar, Porrera, Poboleda and El Lloar, always based on licorella soil from 300 to 650 meters of altitude. As the philosophy of RITME CELLER, this wine is based only on native, indigenous varieties, 70% Carinyena (Cariñena, samsó)
and 30 % Garnatxa. Production of 7.800 bottles. Grapes are hand harvested and selected in
the vineyards and again in the cellar. The wine is aged 12 months in one year old French oak barrels.Bottled in March 2020.Organic Wine.
TASTING NOTES:

Aged in used French oak barrels for one year): Bright violet color. A zesty mineral quality gives loft and focus to sexy aromas of candied flowers and red and dark berry preserves. The juicy, incisive and gently sweet palate offers black raspberry, floral pastille and a late touch of candied licorice. Fine-grained tannins rein in the exuberant fruit on the long and energetic finish. A powerful but finessed wine.
This was an excellent tasting which demonstrates the passion and dedication Albert has put into his winemaking. President Tim Fawle thank Albert for travelling down to present his wines and commented that The Costa Blanca Wine Society and Acustic Celler will forge a great relationship in the years ahead.
